Cheng Hwee is a reflective thinker and an active learner. He is capable of envisioning and translating concepts into operational excellence in organizations. With broad technological background and strong customer’s engagements strengths, Cheng Hwee is able to bridge customer’s requirements and needs with hard-core technologists.

 

Cheng Hwee is a System Engineering Director of Sun Microsystems Singapore. He is currently running a Country Pre-Sales operation with yearly revenue of up to US$160 million, together with about 15 direct staffs (IT architects) and over 25 in-direct Pre-Sales Engineers in three other distributors in Singapore. IT Architects work with Sales and customers to help architect IT infrastructure for a number of the largest customers in Singapore. Cheng Hwee is also a Program Champion and Director in building a new eco-system for Sun technologies suite.

 

He is responsible for placing key Singapore-based customers and partner's technical talents in different divisions of Sun Microsystems world-wide for attachments both as contribution to Sun Microsystems and their own organizations. Cheng Hwee is a Council Member and Key Driver to create a dynamic learning technical community to take on the explosive growth in knowledge for all technical staff stationed in Singapore whether they are reporting to Asia Pacific, Asia South regions or world-wide - building that community of practice while this concept was still in its infancy.

 

Cheng Hwee is also a Board member of Enterprise Solution Ambassador Board for the promotion of IT Architecture Practice for Sun Microsystems world-wide. He shapes IT consultants to move beyond selling point products to being Trusted Technical Advisors to customers. He is part of APAC System Engineer Competency Board, working with other regional SE country directors to set the competency requirements for all System Engineers in Asia Pacific region.

 

Cheng Hwee had received numerous awards throughout the years, namely awards in Sun Microsystems (1996-2004), World-wide Systems Engineer of the Year (first from Asia) in 1997, as well as Asia Pacific System Engineer Manager of the Year in year 2000. Under his leadership as SE Director of Singapore, three of Cheng Hwee’s staffs had also each won Asia South SE of the Year, Asia Pacific SE of the Year and World-Wide SE of the Year respectively.
