A highly experienced economic & business development professional with over 15 years’ experience in Australia, Asia, Europe & Americas.

 

Matthew was the former Head of Foreign Direct Investment & OECD, for the Multimedia Development Corporation.  MDEC is the economic development government agency under the Ministry of Science Technology & Innovation responsible for development of the ICT industry in Malaysia. As the Head of Foreign Direct Investment Matthew represented Malaysia’s ICT industry under the MSC Malaysia initiative in numerous G2G, G2B & B2B level missions abroad leading to lead identifying, qualifying, pursuit & successful negotiation to secure investment and projects. Matthew was an integral part of the transformation of the Shared Services & Outsourcing sector in Malaysia, being part of the team responsible for growing MSC companies revenue from RM14.0Billion in 2006 to RM26.0 Billion in 2010. As a result he has built up an impressive list of relationships with senior leaders of Global and Fortune 500 companies and has personally secured 47 global projects into Malaysia, contributing RM5.37Billion and 9,340 jobs to Malaysia’s economy.

 

Prior to joining MDeC, Matthew was Chief Marketing Officer at Bluescope Steel (formally BHP Steel) in Malaysia.

 

His forte is strategic business development, communication and marketing, coupled with solid management skills.

 

Matthew is also an Executive Committee (EXCO) Member at Malaysia Australia Business Council. His interests includes reading, golf and travelling, and husband to Inong Putri and proud father of 3 children – Samantha, Sophia and Zakaria.
