Daniel Chun is passionate about value innovation and applying Blue Ocean Strategy’s various tools, training and consultancy to help companies from various sectors to swim out of the Red Ocean of crowded market space,  making competition irrelevant. Armed with over 20 years of commercial experience in business development, consulting, strategic planning, new product development and manufacturing across different industries including telecoms, media and manufacturing sectors. Daniel is responsible to plan and strategize the growth as well as the expansion of Blue Ocean Strategy Consulting all over Greater China, together with our working partners from Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore.

 

Daniel has held the following roles, positions as well as attained these achievements and awards:

 

Programmer in the IT&T industry and later project-managed multi-billion telecom license tenders during the liberalization frenzy of the industry in the 90’s in Asia.
Director of Business Development for Taiwan Mobile and also Director for Pacific Iridium
Intimately involved in retail, toy invention, new product development (NPD) and distribution in Canada (2001-2008)
Applied Blue Ocean Strategy for his work in toy licensing and NPD at a toy company in Toronto (2001-2008)
Consultant of Silicone Zone in Hong Kong, providing advisory innovation (2008-2009)
General Manager of Silicone Zone in Hong Kong, leading the company to re-brand globally, managing over 70 patents and trademarks (2008-2009)
Help Silicone Zone to win various innovation awards including world renowned RedDot Design, HK Consumer Product Design and HK Stationery awards.
Founded Art Group as a professional practice to provide Advisory, Research and Training to SME clientele (2009 onwards)
Developed a disruptive business model on Tuition and Activities Management System called ClassBooking.com
ArtGroup was awarded incubation support from Hong Kong Cyberport for its value innovation in creating an uncontested market space (Dec 2009).
The company has recently won both an award from Asia Pacific Mobile Learning Advisory panel award in Malaysia, and was named Red Herring Asia 100’s most promising startup companies in 2010

 

In October, 2010, Daniel attended Blue Ocean Strategy Practitioner Course at UCSI Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Center and is currently undergoing the qualifying process as a Certified Blue Ocean Strategy Practitioner. Daniel has a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, a double Master degree in Business Administration and Information Technology, and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing. Daniel is a full professional member of the Australia Computer Society, the British Computer Society and the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Lancaster University in e-Research & e-Learning.

 

Daniel is fluent in Cantonese, Putonghua, and English and is currently based in Hong Kong as the Affiliate Partner of UCSI Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre for the Greater China.
